Refund Policy

The short version

Try before you buy. A full-featured free edition of SEO Merlin is available on WordPress.org. Install it, run a scan, apply fixes, and see how it works on your own site — at no cost and with no time limit.

Once you download the premium edition, the sale is final. The plugin delivers its value immediately: you install it and it changes your site. There is nothing to return.

1. Before you download

If you buy a premium licence and change your mind before downloading the software, you may request a full refund within fourteen (14) days of purchase.

Freemius, who process our sales, track whether the download has occurred. If it has not, the refund is issued.

Request one from your Freemius customer dashboard — or email support@seomerlin.com and we will help.

2. After you download

Once the premium edition has been downloaded, we do not issue refunds.

We understand this is stricter than some software, so here is our reasoning:

• The plugin does its work immediately. Within minutes of installing it, you can run a scan and apply fixes that change your site’s content and settings. That value is delivered and cannot be returned.
• The changes persist. Fixes you apply remain on your site whether or not your licence is refunded.
• You can evaluate it first, at no cost. The free edition is a complete, working plugin — not a demonstration. It is the trial.

If you request a refund after downloading but within fourteen days, Freemius may consider it at their discretion under their own agreement. That is their decision, not ours.

3. Renewals

Renewal payments are not refundable.

Premium licences renew annually. Freemius will attempt to email a reminder before your renewal date, but email is unreliable — set your own reminder if you intend to cancel.

Cancel at any time from the Freemius customer dashboard. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund a payment already taken.

4. Upgrades and additional licences

The following are not separately refundable:

• upgrading within a plan, such as adding site activations;
• upgrading from one plan to another;
• changing billing cycle;
• purchasing an additional licence.

5. When we will consider a refund

We are not looking for excuses to keep your money. Contact support@seomerlin.com if:

• The plugin does not work on your site and we cannot fix it. Give us a fair chance to help first — most problems are configuration and solvable. If we cannot make it work, we will refund you.
• You were charged twice, or charged after cancelling.
• You bought the wrong plan and tell us promptly.

These are handled case by case, and we would rather resolve the underlying problem than process a refund.

6. Things that are not refund grounds

To be direct about it:

• Rankings did not improve. SEO Merlin implements accepted good practice. Search engines rank pages by their own criteria, and no plugin can guarantee results. We do not promise rankings, and we do not refund for their absence.
• A third-party service cost more than expected. AI and SEO data services are billed by those providers under your own account. The plugin shows you what you spend; it does not control their pricing.
• You stopped using it. An unused licence is still a licence. Cancel before renewal if you do not want to continue.
• A feature works differently than you assumed. The free edition and our documentation are available before purchase.

7. How the sale is structured

Premium licences are sold by Freemius, Inc. as merchant of record. Their End User License Agreement governs the transaction.

Under that agreement, refund eligibility is determined by the vendor’s refund policy — this document — except for the pre-download case in section 1, which Freemius handles directly, and post-download requests within fourteen days, which are at Freemius’s discretion.

8. Consumer rights

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you generally have fourteen days to withdraw from a distance purchase. That right ends once digital content has been supplied, where you have consented to immediate supply and acknowledged the loss of the withdrawal right — which is what downloading the plugin represents.

This policy does not affect statutory rights that cannot be excluded by agreement. If the software is faulty and we cannot repair it, you are entitled to a remedy regardless of what this policy says.
