Connecting Google

What it adds

Search Console tells the plugin which keywords people use to find you, how often you appear in results, and which pages Google isn’t indexing. Analytics tells it how visitors behave once they arrive — bounce rate, engagement, top landing pages.

Both are optional. Without them you still get 43 of the 46 checks. With them, four more checks come alive and the Keywords, Rank Tracking and Reports screens get considerably richer.

Connecting Search Console

1. Go to Settings → Search Console. The card reads Not connected, with a note that it’s a one-click sign-in needing no Google Cloud setup.
2. Click Connect Google Search Console. Your browser hops to Google so you can sign in and approve access.
3. Google brings you back and a banner confirms the connection. Now pick which site you want data for from the Selected property dropdown.

That last step matters more than it looks. The connection isn’t actually live until you choose a property — until then the plugin has permission but doesn’t know which site to ask about.

Sign in with the Google account that owns the Search Console property. Being an editor on the website isn’t the same thing, and it’s the most common reason a connection appears to succeed but returns nothing.

Connecting Analytics 4

Identical flow. Go to Settings → Analytics 4, click Connect Google Analytics, approve at Google, then pick your property from the dropdown. The card then confirms which property you’re reading.

If a connection stops working

Occasionally a Google connection expires and you’ll see a message asking you to reconnect. The fix is short: click Disconnect, then Connect again. Data starts flowing immediately.

If you connected before a recent update, you may need to reconnect once. That’s a one-time thing.

Where your data goes

Sign-in runs through an OAuth broker that handles only the token exchange — it never sees your reporting data. Once connected, your own site talks to Google’s APIs directly and the results stay on your server.

You can revoke access at any time from your Google account permissions page, independently of anything you do in the plugin.
