The setup wizard
A five-step tour that runs the first time you open the plugin. Skippable, resumable, and it never writes anything to your site.
What it’s for
The wizard exists so you don’t have to guess what to do first. It walks you through the connections that make the plugin more useful, explains what each one adds, and lets you decline every single one.
Nothing in the wizard changes your content. It only sets up connections and preferences — the first actual scan happens afterwards, on your own say-so.
The five steps
- Welcome. A short explanation of what the plugin does and how the preview-approve-apply cycle works. No input needed.
- Your site. Confirms the site URL and detects which SEO plugin you’re running — Yoast, Rank Math, AIOSEO, SEOPress or The SEO Framework — so writes land in the right place.
- Google connections. Optional sign-in for Search Console and Analytics. One click each, no Google Cloud setup. Adds indexation, click-through and engagement data to several checks.
- Your AI key. Optional. Paste an Anthropic key to enable AI-written fixes. The key is tested on save and encrypted before storage.
- First scan. Offers to run a Quick Scan straight away so you finish the wizard looking at real results rather than an empty dashboard.
Skipping and resuming
Every step has a Skip option, and skipping doesn’t penalise you — 43 of the 46 checks work with nothing connected at all. If you close the browser partway through, the wizard remembers where you stopped and offers to continue next time you open the plugin.
If you skip the Google and AI steps entirely, the plugin still scans your whole site and shows every issue it finds. You just won’t get the AI-written fixes or the search-data checks until you add them.
Running it again
You can relaunch the wizard any time from Settings → Re-run setup. It’s the fastest way to add a connection you skipped, and it won’t undo anything you’ve already configured.
